berkeley hills pavillion
this tiered structure mimics the slope of the hill and opens out toward the layered views of the campus, the city, and the bay. the timber construction is intended to further complement the landscape and provide a calming atmosphere. using beam grids for the canopy structure reduces the need for load bearing walls, which enables the pavilion to be opened up through glass and folding doors to air and light.
